Client Testimonials

  • What a great little guest house. We was only there for a couple of days, but as soon as we walked in, we was met by friendly staff. Kelly the owner was very helpful and was around all weekend, she was checking in, behind the bar or cooking breakfast. The food was very nice, especially the breakfast. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. We would recommend this to anybody who is thinking of staying in the area.

    Stayed for the weekend
  • We stayed at The Old Times Guest House for a few nights. The staff were very pleasant, helpful. and welcoming. Nothing was too much trouble, and useful advice and information given on local places of interest. Great full English breakfasts in the pleasant and modern dining room. Nice friendly and relaxing bar. Room was nicely decorated, modern and cheerful. Smart and roomy ensuite with large shower cubicle, ample room for two if desired. Fairly quiet area, so a good night's sleep was enjoyed. Would not hesitate to book a room again if visiting the area for an overnight or longer stay.

    Well Pleased !!!!
  • A great guest house . This is the third time we have stopped here and It`s the ideal place for us in it`s location . The rooms were clean and comfortable as usual and breakfast was very nice. Kelly and the staff are friendly . I will be booking again for next year

    A Great little Guest House
  • I booked in for 2 nights and was warmly greeted by Kelly who owns and runs the Old Times. My room was spacious and had a good size en-suite with plenty of room to move around. The room had a decorative theme which makes a change from the bland, functional rooms you get in the large brand hotels which I normally stay in. I felt really at home and had 2 great nights sleep which is unusual for me when I stay away. It is also handy for Ipswich either via the local railway station, Derby Road, which is a 6 or 7 minute walk away, or by a brisk 20 minute walk. You could catch a bus and a taxi is under £7. Kelly cooks your breakfast to order and wow it is a great breakfast! I also had the Cod Friday meal and the fish was cooked very well indeed, moist and tasty. I even saw the beer being drawn for the chef to make the beer batter 🙂 There is a bar here but it opens very restricted hours and is largely used by hotel guests and closes fairly early so there are no concerns about noise - there is a sister pub a few minutes away. In fact, the hotel is generally very quiet which aids sleep! In earlier reviews, there was some concern about the rooms being cold. That has been sorted out with a new heating system and cold it is not! Kelly is a wonderful host and I thoroughly recommend The Old Times Guest House as a great place to stay.

Very homely and comfortable with great home cooked food.
  • "Everyone we spoke to said how much they enjoyed your cooking. The food was tasty and the portion size was just right. In conclusion please accept our thanks and gratitude for all your efforts, which made our special day even more special." - Wedding Breakfast, 23rd April 2016.
